Are Electric Skateboards Worth It? - How about Teamgee E-boards?

With the increasing popularity of electric skateboards, they are gradually becoming a travel choice for many people.

What about you? Are you riding an electric skateboard? If you are not, then this article is worth to read.

What is An Electric Skateboard? How Do They Work?

Essentially, an electric skateboard is just a skateboard with an electric motor attached.

It usually has a handheld wireless remote control that can be used to control the speed of the skateboard.

The speed can range from 10 miles per hour to 50 miles per hour (16 km/h - 80 km/h).

Also, different ranges depending on the battery life, from 10 miles to 60 miles (16km - 97km).

So, how do they work?

The motor-driven skateboard is electrically powered and looks more Stylish. On the back of the board, you can find battery and the electric motor case.

We control the electric skateboard via a remote control. The electric skateboard almost comes with a remote control that you can push the accelerator to open the throttle, and the remote control transmits data via electromagnetic waves to the skateboard's electronic speed controller (ESC).

As we accelerate with the remote control, the ESC receives information from the Bluetooth receiver, evaluates and extracts the correct amount of energy from the battery for the motor.

The energy from the battery goes to the motor, which drives the wheels and your electric skateboard forward.

Pros of Electric Skateboards

  • Give Fun to Ride an Electric Skateboard

If you haven't ridden an electric skateboard, you won't be able to experience the e-skateboarding fun. Unlike regular skateboards, electric skateboards can give you speed on the fly, something that regular skateboards cannot achieve.

The electric skateboard can also do some carving and turning, which will be of great fun.

  • Make the Most of Your Commute

Not only does an electric skateboard help to reduce your commute time and avoid annoying traffic jams and crowds, but more importantly, it's a completely different way to get around - riding an electric skateboard will start your day with a breeze and the fun of riding will keep you motivated throughout the day.

  • Get Exercise

As most people who sit in an office for long periods of time, our commute is enough to wear us out. We may not have the time or energy to take extra time out to exercise.

So, riding an electric skateboard to and from work gets the best of both worlds. We get our exercise while riding and save a lot of commuting time as well, and we are enjoying the riding, right?

  • Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

With global warming stemming from the yearly increase in carbon emissions, any form of green travel is worth promoting.

If you also want to contribute to a greener environment, choosing to ride an electric skateboard is a great way to do so.

  • Meet Friends in E-skateboardCommunity (Grouprides are so much fun!)

Electric skateboards are becoming more and more popular.

If you like electric skateboards, then you can definitely meet some e-skateboard lovers.

Joining an electric skateboard community is also a great way to expand your friend circle.

Cons of Electric Skateboards

  • Not Legal at Everywhere

It is a complex issue and there is no one clear answer. It really depends on your country/state, as the laws on electric skateboards vary from place to place.

If you are concerned about the legality of owning an electric skateboard in your country, you should definitely look into the local laws just in case.

  • Not 100% Safe to Commute

There is no doubt that there are dangers associated with every form of travel. There are certainly some dangers associated with electric skateboards.

So, how can the risks of riding an electric skateboard be largely reduced?

I think we can wear good safety equipment, such as helmets, wrist guards, etc. Obey traffic and ride in a safe place, which can improve the safety of e-skateboarding.

  • Needs to Be Charged

Of course, the electric skateboard can also be ridden as a normal electric skateboard in case there is really no electricity left.

Make sure the board is fully charged before you go out, and that it can reach the range to complete your trip, so you can avoid the hassle of finding a place to recharge it during the trip!

Cost of Owning An Electric Skateboard

You may be wondering how much electric skateboards cost.

Nowadays, they can range from $200 to over $3000 depending on the brand and the quality of the boards.

If you're not a brand chaser, a proper Teamgee electric skateboard will suit your needs.

Of course you need to pay additional costs, such as replacement of  damaged motors, batteries, charging electricity etc., but overall it is still a good value for money for getting around.

You May Have Other Questions

If you have any additional questions that I have not covered here, you are welcome to look at the website here for more information.

  • Can you ride an electric skateboard in the rain?

Although the skateboard is partially waterproof, for your safety, please avoid riding in the rain.

  • How fast & How far can electric skateboards ride?

The speed of an electric skateboard can vary from 10 miles per hour (16 km/h) to 50 miles per hour (80 km/h), depending on the brand and quality of the skateboard.

About the range.

It depends on the type of board you buy. Longer boards are better for longer rides. More expensive boards will usually have higher quality batteries that can greatly increase the range of your board. Some higher end boards can last around 40 miles (64km) - 60 miles (97km), while the lower end boards can last closer to 10 miles (16km).

  • Can you take electric skateboards on planes?

In most cases this will depend on the airline you choose and the battery of your electric skateboard.

If your board has a battery capacity of less than 160Wh, then you can usually take it on the plane.

It also depends on the airline you choose. Therefore, before taking your board to the airport, check the airline's regulations carefully to avoid any problems for your trip.

  • Are electric skateboards safe?

If you are a smart rider, put on your protective gear and avoid unnecessary risks.

As long as you are safe and take the right precautions, you should be fine.

Final Thoughts

Is electric skateboard worth it? Do I need to buy an electric skateboard?

Actually, it's up to you.

If you do need an electric skateboard to facilitate your daily travels and legal e-boarding, nice road conditions there, and then you can try an electric skateboard.

If you have previous skateboard riding experience and want to experience the fun of an electric skateboard (a strong interest is fine, after all, electric skateboards are not cheap compared to regular skateboards), then you can also buy one for yourself.

By carefully researching the selection of an electric skateboard and using it to its full potential, I believe that owning one e-skateboard is a worthwhile financial investment.
